Resonance of silence

The images give form to what is difficult to express in words, establishing a relationship between an inner state and the spaces photographed.

The black-and-white photographs bring together deteriorating facades, empty rooms, objects that have lost their function and remnants of workplaces. A bathtub, bottles, a bicycle and typewriters retain traces of human activity no longer visible in the image. Light entering through windows and the texture of walls allow these traces to be observed closely.

The sequence alternates views of spaces with details of objects. Interiors give way to empty swings, overgrown railway tracks and scenes of nature. This relationship between architecture, objects and landscape allows abandonment to be read as an experience of time: what deteriorates coexists with what endures or changes form.

The absence of people leaves open questions about those who inhabited these places and the stories attached to their remains. The series dwells on the solitude, fragility and beauty of these forgotten corners. Silence is felt in the distance between the life these spaces suggest and their present state.
