The human imprint
La impronta del hombre
The city, both as a concept and as a tangible reality, is the principal setting of human life.
The city through its footsteps
This project, “The human imprint”, invites the viewer to reflect on how people inhabit and transform the city, and are transformed by it.
Each image is a fragment of a larger story, a narrative in which the protagonists have been stripped of their faces and immediate contexts to become symbols of something far more universal: the generic citizen, the inhabitant of every city in the world. Here, name, origin, social class and culture do not matter; what matters is the act of walking, of moving, of leaving a physical and symbolic imprint on urban space.
The city is shown as a living organism rather than a collection of buildings, shaped and defined by the footsteps of those who walk through it. Every step tells a story, and every story is part of a human mosaic that gives shape to the essence of the city itself.
This offers an immersive experience in which the photographs become a starting point for reflection on our relationship with the space we inhabit. The exhibition does more than document a social reality; it invites us to take an active part in it, imagining the stories of these anonymous figures and reflecting on our own imprint on the cities we call home.
The city is what it is because we inhabit it. And by inhabiting it, we too become part of its history.
